Critical Illness Cover
Financial security during difficult times
Critical illness cover is a type of insurance that offers protection in the event that you are diagnosed with a serious illness or injury. It is designed to provide financial support and remove money worries at a time when the focus needs to be on your health. Claims are typically paid as a tax free lump sum that can be used to cover everyday expenses, pay for private treatment, or adapt your home to meet your medical needs.
The conditions covered vary from policy to policy, but typically include cancer, heart attack and stroke, though it is worth noting that some less advanced cancers may not be covered as they are not deemed ‘critical’. Most policies also cover physical disabilities sustained as a result of injury, for example after a serious accident at work.
Some critical illness policies also include children’s cover, meaning that if your child is diagnosed with a serious illness then a lump sum would be paid out to help with treatment and to support the family during this difficult time.
Some policies also include additional medical support, such as helplines, dedicated nurses and legal advice.
Coverage differs considerably between insurance companies, so book a free consultation with one of our friendly advisers to discuss which options would best fit your needs.
